These include improved privacy, regulated temperature, protection from harmful UV rays, and reduced glare. Plastic and glass windows may possess different characteristics, but they pose similar challenges such as lack of privacy, excessive heat, absence of UV protection, and discomfort caused by direct sunlight.

Polycarbonate is commonly used for manufacturing windows in motorhomes. However, these windows are prone to expanding and contracting with temperature changes, which results in gas emissions. Similarly, glass window films also expand with temperature fluctuations. Nonetheless, when using glass window film, the adhesives may not possess the same flexibility as the plastic, leading to potential issues at some stage.

In response to customer demand, Johnson Laminating and Coating developed Plexshade 10%, a tinted plastic window film specifically designed for installation on vehicle windows. With a two-ply dyed construction and new adhesive formula, this product offers improved privacy, temperature regulation, UV protection, and glare reduction. Its solar properties include a visible light transmission of 10%, an interior and exterior reflectance of 5%, an 88% glare reduction, and an impressive 41% total solar energy rejection.
